Alessi Joy n 3 Round Tray Silver

A sheet of Stainless Steel becomes Forma and decoration: Joy, like a jewel. The Tray presents the fascinating play of reflections that characterizes the designs of the Joy line, born from the union between the research conducted by Claudia Raimondo and Alessi's attention to the "skin of the object." Indeed, the experience developed in the processing of Stainless Steel surfaces, even the most complex ones, has allowed the creation of interesting design research and the consolidation of a technologically sophisticated production process. "Joy n.3" is a round Tray with embossed walls and a jagged edge. The irregular texture embellishes the object, recalling the image of surfaces worked by master silversmiths. Obtained by cold stamping the Stainless Steel sheet, the facets that create the object's distinctive texture are proportionally sized to the large surface area of the Tray. The Joy Collection is designed by Claudia Raimondo. The shape and decoration of the steel sheet is created through a sophisticated and contemporary moulding technique. The faces of the object create its form: large and open with undefined edges and with a fascinating play of reflections that are reminiscent of objects handmade in precious metals. The texture evokes the backgrounds of the digital world and reinterprets steel by playing on the elusiveness of the design, which makes the object look like something smooth and natural even if it crystallised into a solid matter. Claudia Raimondo: Architect, PhD in industrial design, she lives and works in Milan. Her professional interests are highly specific, marked by original features of research and innovation in the CMF sphere and the soft style of intersubjective nature. She focuses on research into the expressive and linguistic qualities of the materials for the traits of products and architecture. Her CMF projects are based on products - like for the collaboration with Alessi - and context, especially via the development of meta-projects linked to brand identity, company image, and the retail outlets. She has recently been involved as artistic director in a series of innovative interior architecture projects, drawing up guidelines for public bodies. She has taught in the faculty of Architecture and the faculty of Design of Milan Polytechnic, at the Brera Fine Arts Academy. From 1993 to 2012 she was project leader for the master qualification in design at the Domus Academy of Milan.
